On Monday, November 21st, our lovable family-dog, Terra, delivered her second litter of F1 Bernedoodle puppies! Terra is an AKC registered Bernese Mountain Dog who lives in our house with us, and weighs about 102 lbs. She is a big fluffy ball of cuddle, and we all love her!
Terra's litter in 2022 was wonderful and we have many pictures from their families as they have grown this year. We have noticed that, as lovely and beautiful as they are, the puppies have grown bigger than we thought they would. We aren't trying to raise "purse-sized" Bernedoodles, but we are looking for a slightly more manageable size.
Last year's "puppy daddy" was wonderful, and helped make pretty puppies, but we decided to make a change this year as we attempt slightly smaller puppies. We contracted with "Caesar" to be this year's puppy-daddy.
Caesar is a 17-pound AKC poodle who has an incredibly friendly demeanor and great disposition.
Detail stuff: Caesar is technically a "Moyen" sized poodle. Since that is the 4th size of poodles in Europe, but is not recognized as a size by the AKC, he would be a "Standard" poodle in America - but not, technically, a miniature poodle.
"What does that mean?": Sometimes, miniature poodles have a reputation for being yippy and high-energy dogs. Moyen poodles, like our family poodle, Penny, tend to be a bit more laid-back and friendly, which is similar to the stereotype of a standard poodle. (This is a good thing - and we searched long and hard for Caesar!)
Caesar does NOT live with us, or even in our state, so we can't show him off to you - except with these pictures. It can be hard to trust people nowadays, but Caesar is truly a winner!
Terra, is one of the most lovable dogs I've ever met. She's big, yes, but she just loves to cuddle and snuggle. She is independent enough to be able to come up to me while I'm working, ask for a few pets (by lifting my hand off the computer mouse with her nose), and then walk away to lay down someplace. It would be easy to say she is "lazy", but she's really more discriminating on her energy usage.
If i open the front door to the house, she starts bouncing and moving and shaking. As soon as I say it's ok, she will run out the door, across the yard, check on the currently) empty chicken coop, and then meet me by the door to my car and jump right in. The only thing she likes more than a car trip, is a slice of white bread (seriously). She will jump through hoops for a taste of almost any baked good. That's the secret for anyone watching her if we are away for the day.
Terra (R) camped out on the foot of our bed with cousin Vesper (L) and our little Penny to the right of Terra - hiding from Vesper. |

Now that she's delivered her puppies, she is more "awake" but she's still recovering from the exhaustion.
She wants me to just go away... |

She is a non-stop cleaning machine! |
